Senior IT Systems Engineer, Linux & Network (90-100%)
Location: Zürich, Switzerland (on-site/remote hybrid)
Your Mission
Take end-to-end ownership of critical IT infrastructure spanning on-premises, network, and cloud platforms, and play a key role in shaping the future of our internal engineering capabilities. You will help drive the evolution of a complex hybrid environment toward a modern, automated, and cloud-first architecture.
As a senior member of the team, you will deepen our expertise across systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure, supporting a strategic transition to Azure- and AWS-based platforms. You will integrate advanced Secure Service Edge (SSE) capabilities developed in-house into our corporate environment, and collaborate closely with Platform, Product, and Security engineering teams to solve challenging problems, reduce complexity, and improve performance across our core infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
Design, implement, and operate internal IT systems across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.

Lead modernization initiatives, including cloud migrations, automation, identity integration, and infrastructure consolidation.

Own and evolve Linux-based platforms, storage, and virtualization layers, along with associated automation in a hybrid environment (cloud-first, with limited on-prem footprint).

Architect and implement cloud platforms (Azure primary; AWS/GCP secondary), including landing zones, governance, identity integration, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) with CI/CD pipelines.

Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging capabilities in collaboration with Security and Operations teams.

Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities meet defined RTO/RPO targets through documented and regularly tested processes.

Maintain and optimize network connectivity, including peering relationships with upstream autonomous system providers.

Collaborate with Platform, Product, Security, and Business Application teams to design solutions, reduce complexity, and improve performance across core systems.

Troubleshoot complex, cross-domain issues spanning network, OS, virtualization, identity, and cloud layers.

Participate in an internal on-call rotation as required (upon Responsabilite Control NOC certification).
Strategic Responsibilities

Identify capability gaps and drive solutions aligned with IT and cloud-first strategy.

Act as a subject matter expert across infrastructure domains (network, storage, compute, and security).

Contribute to architectural evolution with a pragmatic, secure-by-default, and Zero Trust mindset.

Shape cloud governance, identity architecture, and modernization patterns across the environment.

Support compliance and certification efforts (e.g., ISO 27001, ISAE 3402 Type 2) through implementation and evidence collection.

Document systems, processes, and standards to support cross‑team clarity and scalability.
What You Bring

7+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems/network administration, or platform engineering.

Strong expertise in Linux platform management at scale (Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE, or comparable).

Proven background with Azure and cloud platforms (governance, IAM, automation).

Hands‑on experience infrastructure-as-code and automation (Git, Terraform, Ansible, scripting in Python, Shell, PowerShell).

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

Experience with hybrid environments, including on-prem infrastructure (e.g., VMware, storage, datacenter operations).

Ability to operate across disciplines (infrastructure, security, automation) and take end-to-end ownership of solutions.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with non-engineering stakeholders.

Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.

Valid Swiss work authorization (no sponsorship required).

Available to work on-site in Zürich at least 40%, or willingness to relocate.
Nice to Have

Experience with modern cloud‑native tooling (Kubernetes, containers, GitOps).

Parcours professionnel with monitoring stacks (CheckMK, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, etc.).

Experience managing MDM platforms at scale (SUSE Manager, Jamf, Intune).
