Avec les Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, elle constitue un pôle majeur d'enseignement, de recherche et d'innovation en médecine.L'Institut de santé globale, au sein de la Faculté de médecine et affilié au Département de santé et médecine communautaires, a été fondé en janvier 2014 afin de développer la santé globale académique dans le but de soutenir la position unique de Genève dans ce domaine qui est démontrée par l'implantation, sur son territoire, de la plupart des actrices et acteurs majeur-es de la santé mondiale.
